eL-IT
eLearning modules for the study of Information-, Communications-, and Media Technology
eL-IT is working on the development and implementation of interactive, multimedia eLearning modules for the study of Information, Communications and Media Technology. The project mainly focuses on developing and multimedially preparing web-based contents. In implementing overall infrastructural concepts the main project´s objectives are accounted for.

The developed eLearning modules are to enhance traditional face-to-face teaching and form the basis of a future self-contained Master/Postgraduate Course of Studies. This course will span all German Länder and is to be implemented and offered by the universities involved as a combined in-site/distance course of studies. This course of studies will then be open to students from all partner universities.
The eLearning modules are full-fledged main subjects carrying credit points. One module is normally equivalent to 4 SWS (semester periods per week) equivalent to at least 4 credit points. Thereby, transfer and acknowledgement of academic achievement within the project and in international comparison are provided. The project is based on a conceptual framework and a set of basic parameters for the development of modules including quality assurance guidelines, thus preparing the ground for higher-than-average learning success and high acceptance. By broadly introducing innovative multimedia teaching and learning forms teaching at the partner universities is to get more attractive and better.
A special project feature is the development and trial of speech technologies. Apart from speech synthesis, voice output, and speech recognition applications for speech controlled devices and speech verification are developed and tested. Next to other acoustic components, like "natural" voice reproduction, "non-voice" components are part of the modules as well. In addition, various video-technological application scenarios are implemented in the Multimedia Centre at the BTU Cottbus. New combinations of in-site and distance learning are to open up new vistas, especially for women, of balancing studies with job or family commitments.
