The "Kursbuch eLearning 2004" divides products into three categories.

a) Teaching and Learning Contents: This category summarizes all resources that make use of digital media. Among these are courses or module collections, fields and courses of study. Short descriptions tell you in which teaching scenario a specific resource can be employed.

b) Knowledge Bases: In this category you will find collections of digital data that are not designed for specific teaching scenarios, but can be employed in different settings.

c) Tools: This category summarizes software solutions facilitating the development and use of digital teaching resources, e.g. authoring, and learning management systems.

Product descriptions support instructors in deciding to what extent they can base their teaching on a certain product. Students can keep themselves informed about the progress in their subject areas at different universities and higher institutes of learning as well as learn about new teaching methods that employ modern and innovative technologies. It should be pointed out that all products in line with the funding programme can be used free of charge by German universities and higher institutes of learning within the context of teaching and research.
